H-Sport bars- The first 500 miles
I know this is old news for the guys who've already put them on, but I thought there are enough new peeps here now who might like to hear, so for their benefit....
Had my H-Sports put on last Monday and have about 500 miles drive time on them so far. These things rock. I can't imagine driving the car in stock set up again. Every aspect of driving has improved. The car goes where I point it much more easily. The car feels lighter through tight twisties.
I live on top of a hill with a 2 mile winding road to get up to it. Winding down this hill at 20mph with the stock bars, the car would lumber, lurch, twist, dive, sway and lean for no apparent reason going through some of the off-camber turns. It handled these bends worse than my '96 4Runner. Now it stays flat through these turns, and feels much more stable.
I just drove back from Tahoe yesterday, so for those here who drive from Tahoe to SF on 80, you know the 50-or-so miles coming down from Donner Pass into Auburn has some nice, fun turns that people take at good speed. Coming down this stretch in February for the first time in this car, I felt comfortable taking the turns at 70+, but definitely felt some lean. Yesterday coming home, I had no fears taking any of these turns at 80. The car stayed completely flat, and the little seams and imperfections in the pavement, that used to throw the car left or right, no longer threw the car off it's track. It would just eat them up and keep moving.
Bottom line, if you are less than satisfied with the handling of your allroad, and have not done this mod yet, don't wait another day. I ordered mine through purems.com, by the way, very friendly service. It took a few weeks, but that is because H-Sport was between shipments.

Exactly my experience and why I recommend the 2.7tt at altitude...
I'll bet not very many cars passed you, while you passed a ton of cars :-)
And the H-sports definitely make those sweeping turns fun!

w00t! I agree completely, especially...
...with my summer tires (245/50-17 Michelin Pilot Sport All-Seasons) on, and even though I've got the H-Sports on soft. I can only imagine what the hard setting, 245/45ZR18 tires, and new shocks (mine are getting to 60K miles) would feel like.
"Golly gee gosh, Officer Feeblefuster, yer radar gun must be busted or somethin'. This here's a two-and-a-quarter ton station wagon and I couldn't a been doin' that fast around those there curves!" HPH

Mine are on firm - wife can't even tell difference from stock.
It's not going to make it feel like an M3 or anything...
Even on firm, it is smoother on bumps than the rental Altima I'm driving right now.
