Default Having Problem Undder High Speed Acceleration, Check Engine Light On...

All-

Have 150,000+ miles on 6sp allroad and having problem when I accelerate at high speed like on entrance to highway. Engine misfires and car bucks; seems like either electrical or flow restriction; leaning toward latter because it doesn't happen at low speed, low RPM. Fuel filter is fresh, plugs are original (yea, I know I should change them but the're on the shelf and haven't gotten to them). Check engine light comes on and during most recent incident came on and stayed on although not blinking. Has anyone had similar problem? Injectors, plugs, wires, coil? Runs fine if I don't push it and have appointment at dealer but wanted to get thoughts from all you allroaders.

Thanks in Advance, Thom

Do a pressure test; check the throttle body boot.

Default How can plugs be original?

Audi paid Maint would have changed them at 40K.

But in any event...get them out.

It sounds like a coilpack is gone. DIY 10 minutes. You need a VAG to find out which cyl.

Get a good Audi Indy. Your dealer will rape you completely with that kind of mileage.

He will give you a laundry list of things to replace.

Default I have seen many factory mantained cars with original plugs at 100000.

The new dbl platinums and iridiums will actualy run that long although increasingly poorly. Either missing or detonation, is causing the light. Start with changing plugs, if original. From there some more info would be needed for an accurate diagnosis. E#ngine logs would help, but my money is on an Ignition miss, either plugs or coils, maybe both as I have seen that happen.
