Default Help me with my brake calipers

I am not able to push my brake piston back in, to make space for the new rotor and pads. I followed the instructions in the manual, but I am not freeing up more than 35mm and I need at least 40mm. Any advise will be very welcome....

Default What tool are you using to turn the pistons?

I just did mine this afternoon. IT was a PITA to do the first part of the piston, my pads were worn down too far to get the harbor freight piston retraction tool in. But, once I got them turned enough to use the tool they twisted in easily and far enough. Could your brake pads be thicker than stock? Do you have the cap off of the brake fluid reservoir so that the fluid has a place to go?

BTW, I hate Audi rear brakes.

Default see ColoradoMark's post, you need a tool to turn the piston while pushig it in.

You can damage the caliper by not turning it in.If you don't have the tool you can take channellocks, carefully turn the piston clockwisewhile pushing in. Grab the piston only at the outer edge where it contacts the pads, otherwise you can gouge the piston and it will leak when you push it in.

Default AutoZone has a "free rental" program for this tool and others;

maybe other parts stores do as well - try calling around.

And don't forget to take the cap off the reservoir, suck a bit of fluid out into a CLEAN baster or pack paper towels around the opening.
