Hesitation over here, advise is welcome
Got my eyes on some 19x8.5 wheels, 5x112 bolt pattern.
I know, you might think this is sick to put them on an allroad, but only during the summer.
The challenge is, they would have to run on 255-tire size, Audi or the dealers I called could not answer me.
Any suggestions? (Besides declaring me "nuts")
Thanks Guys.

Will they need spacers?
Also, are you thinking of a 255 / 35 tire? I'm running 18s now and the size seems about perfect. I'd worry about a 35 series tire. Not much protection for the rim.

For these wheels ...
...you'd need an ET-12 offset to maintain the correct suspension geometry. But with the wider tires, you might go to the equivalent of ET-0, just so they won't rub anywhere in there.
What this means is, check the ET on the wheels you want and add spacers that big. This will mess up the suspension geometry a little by making these big, wide tires stick out a half-inch more than the correct geometry (and the extra tire width will make them stick out .6" or so more than stock with the correct geometry).
With the 255 tire size, I think this would actually look good. You can estimate the look relative to the wheel-well flares by measuring out 1" from the stock sidewall.
(I'm not so positive about the 19" wheels, though, but that's my own taste.)

Re: For these wheels ...
Well, thanks for the advise, I guess there is more money to spend then expected.
BTW, the Offset is given with 42, I can't make out this number.
I'm not really a friend of spacers, the car would look like a "wannabe BRONCO" or some Wrangler piece.
The problem is that who ever want's to sell something will not diclose the entire hassle.
But I'll ask for the ET on these Wheels.
Again, many Thanks!

Re: Will they need spacers?
Actually, the tire size would be 255/40 x 19.
As long as my Girlfriend doesn't drive it I'm not concerned about the rim ;-) (she toasted the orig. wheels already, sad story :-(

Re: can't offer any help but go for it, also you must 402..........
We'll see if the 402 is still necessary but I have a little doubt. Even with the normal settings I don't think you would get a hand between Wheel and Body. So let's see about that.

if you're going 255/40-19 your overall diameter is just a bit larger than stock.........
depending on different tire specs of course but if overall diameter is the same so is the gap...

with a 32 offset and 245's I'm about as close as you'd want to get to rubbing........
if your wheels are 42 offset and your gonna run 255's I'd think you'd need at least a 15mm spacer...

I keep remembering the look...
...of that puke-green customized ar that was posted...<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/43897.phtml">here</a>.
Its tires are out to the edges of the flares, and (aside from the color) it looks mean.
