Default Hot Oil 2.7T

Is it "normal" for a 2003 Alltoad 2.7T to run an operating oil temp of 250 degrees F?

That's hot. What is ambient temperature when you see 250F ?

I run around 225-230. On a long(3-4 hour)highway drive in the summer the temps will creep up to 250

I reside in Boise, Idaho. I'll ask owner, I'm inquiring because I'm pondering purchasing the car. My current presumption is that it runs that hot regardless of outside conditions.

air temperature is irrelevant, car behaves the same regardless. Coolant temp rises too once the oil reaches 250, if the car is pulled over and idled, temps return to normal after a short test period. Trying to formulate theory as to why car would behave in this manner

100-110 Celsius =220- 228 F on the highway in warm weather is still normal, also in city traffic jam, too. If the oil temp reaches the next line (250?) 120 Celsius it turns to be critical - the water temp leaves the middle position to the right. In that case it is adviseable to shut down the Airconditioning because and in standstill to put the shift lever to N instead of D.
Be sure that all three fans work properly. In such situation all three should go on high rpm , even if the AC is off.

Basically, my oil temp is around 100 Celsius or slightly below that line, according to the oiltemp meter - excl highway, serious jams or mountains. The after-run pump should also work properly after turning the engine off (above ~oiltemp 100C, depending on ambient temp - above 25 Celsius approx).
Important: 5w50 fullsynth oil results in 5 Celsius lower oiltemps (less friction) and internal cleansing of engine cooler is also useful...
