Default How my engine ended half dead

Hi guys,I posted a couple earlier on.I had problems with unstable idle, misfires on 6-th cylinder,O2 sensor going fowl on bank too.Well all the usual stuff was done, plugs ,coils, new O2 sensor.Lately my engine developed some nasty metallic ticking .Repair shop said lifters,so engine flush new thicker oil.Still it ticked.Well at last I convinced them guys to open the valve cover.I will let pictures say the rest.
I'm so mad.

Nope.It is a mystery for me .I very meticulous about changing oil(some say I change it too often,no more than 5-6 thousand km.)I use Mobil 1 5W30 of top quality. I really never heard of 2.7t eating their camshafts!!!!

Isn't this possible if the cam sensors or timing belt was off a bit?

Wouldn't this set a DTC?And when checking measuring blocks on vag-com show discrepancies?

How many miles? Timing belt done? Sucks in any case.

I had a bad fuel pressure regulator that over pressurized a bank of cyls. Similar symptoms, burned out the valves, and required a new head. Major symptom was misfires that wouldn't go away. Took a very good and dedicated audi tech 2 weeks to diagnose and one week to fix. Thankfully all under CPO.

We are opening the oil pan Monday to check for the status of oil pump.Oil pressure was not measured, unfortunately. On the housing,if that what you call, under camshaft(the same spot were the bad lifter was seated)the metal is shaved badly .Most probably it was getting oil at all.I'm already looking for a used head.
This will be a hard task since this engine is very rare in Eastern Europe.
