Default I just chipped my '04 Allroad Tip... not impressed?!

Hello all,

I am new to the forum, but have had my 04 for one year now, and FREAKIN love it. After much consternation, I decided to chip it with the GIAC 1 bar, and the required tranny chip. $1,100 all in. Not Cheap.

I am wondering if there is anyone else who has had their car chipped and not been incredibly impressed? I recently drove back to Vegas (where I live) from LA, and had the bastard bouncing off the governor at 130 mph many times along the way. The car did so well, I decided it was time to get off of the fence and get the DAMN chip.

Well, I got it, and it feels stronger in the mid range, maybe stronger all around... but its not like it really made it a whole different car.

Is it me? Are my expectations too high? I thought 60+ HP would really show up...

Default It is more power...but...

you said only 1 bar. Did you get a Chip or did they give you a flash load(DiPP) for the ECU? What octane program did you get? What octane fuel are you using?

Doesn't sound right. May want to have your tuner take it for a spin.

Definitely not right. After chipping (GIACC Dipp), I felt a huge difference.

The dessert tends to be hot.....heat robs a lot of power, especially when you run 91 octane.

Default Could have been the heat like Dr said, But

I only noticed a big difference on the bottom end, the top was about the same except that the speed limiter was gone. (I had a nice pull up to 140)

Default You're not alone

I too had the same impression. I can't stand the lull at 3000rpm or 62mph in D or in Tip 5. When you get on it, it downshifts, smooth acceleration but can even go down to 3rd! and then seeks to find the right spot ...it's pretty annoying after dropping $1k in "upgrade".

Default That's the Tip chip. I agree with you there.

It will even drop you down a gear when your in Tip mode.
