I just installed my Sirius Replay...
and I have a bit of static coming through. When this unit was on my Passat I had no static at all. It does use the built in modulator. I do not want to use the Blitzsafe adapter to correct this. Could it be a bad ground? I grounded it to one of the bolts on the hood open lever. What do you guys think? I could not get to the bolt attatched to the brown wire as TeddyBGame suggested, that's why I used that bolt. Also, I have the antenna mounted to the rear deck. I just heard the factory sub flutter for the first time as well.

My experience with bad reception is not static, but cutting in and out.
I have my antenna mounted on the roof and occasionally when driving under heavy tree cover I lose the signal, but its never static, it just gets choppy. There should be a signal indicator in your menu options to check your signal strength.
My thought is its the modulator...can you select a different channel?
I use the blitzsafe adapter and have had no problems...but it does cost $100...

I use the Sirius Starmate....
Never with a modulator. I use the built in FM tansmitter, no static at all. My ground is the housing of the radio itself. The longer you power lines the more likely they can pick up ambient signals that creat noise.

I used the FM modulator when I had a Sirius unit - sounded perfect.
My wife's Passat doesn't use one, and you can DEFINITELY tell the difference. CDs even sound better than her SAT.

Re: I use the Sirius Starmate....
I used TeddyBGames install pictures and I ran the power from the #30 bolt under the drivers side dash. I also grounded it near that as well. I ran to wires through the vent opening and around the glove box. The only thing I did was add a inline fuse...which added more wire. Where is your Power Paulroad and how do I do it?

The Cig Lighter...

about 12" of wire did it. I keep it in the gutted ash tray to hid it. I lift it out to use it.
It has an auto off feature in case you leave it on. 2 hours latore it goes off.
I only have two wires connected to it. 1 for the Sat antenna and the other for power.
The sat antenna line runs under the dash down the drivers foot well panel, under the door moldings, the rear seat, between the cargo windo and plastic panels, up into the rubber of the hatch and out on the roof alongside the FM antenna.

Re: The Cig Lighter...
Thanks pal...I think I would like to do that. How do I access the wire and what do I need to do to tap into it?
I also thought about buying a wired FM Modulator Relay to hardwire with. Do I need the Audi Antenna Adapter to make it work or will it just plug right in to the antenna slot?
Here is a link.

Re: I just installed my Sirius Replay...
I went home and tried a few things before ripping my dash apart and this is what I found...On the Starmate I went into the audio options and turned down the volume to match the volume of the FM when switching back and forth. This small little thought saved me a ton of time and energy because it took the static away! Everything is fine now with the FM transmitter supplied.

Here you go...
Tak out the radio, unscrew the HVAC head, pull it out. Push the clips on the ash tra an take it out, the rest you will get visually.
The Starmate does not need an FM Modulator which would be a third wire pluging into the Radio Head Antenna port.
