Had ignition coil fail today on '03 allroad. Replaced under warranty, but am curious how many other folks have had coil failures with allroad 2.7t engines. I am well aware of the issues/recalls on 1.8t engines, but wondering how may folks with allroads have been impacted.

research has shown that the vendor is the same and limited numbers of the bad coils made their way to other engines in the VAG line.

One at about 20 k, other at 30 k, at 60k now and no problem.

2003 model also. Quite a few of us Denver folk have had the pleasure of ignition coil gremlins!

5 of my 6 have died, I carry a spare in the car now just in case.

Just had one. #5 Cyl... vehicle had been mildly surging for a month and got crappy mileage on a cross country trip (5 mpg or more worse with similar loadout to prev. trips) It jusst wasn't so bad that I could put my finger on it and dealer did 25K service prior to trip. Only 24K on car. I thought it was the MAF when it went for good because power went to almost nothing. CEL eng. light flashed and Audi service rep on phone told me I had to pull over for Tow. (Pulled into worst part of Atlanta. to wait for hour... what fun) After reading these posts, wonder when the next one will go?
