So I'm ordering the combi valve block-off plates from 034 Motorsports. http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-...8-p-21816.html

Now I'll have the bolts I need, and the plates to remove the system when it fails (the pump is already howling bloody murder on cold startup.)
You think it's possible you lost this? >>

I bet that's the problem too. I guess I can use some gasket maker to replace it. Would you happen to know what size bolt 13 is?

Thanks for the great blow up picture, it's just what I was looking for.

It's an M6x20...part # N 101 244 08

The gasket is part # 078 131 120 D

Yep, I think good high heat gasket maker would do the job.

This is why the allroad forum is the best one here. Thanks!

Actually, looking at that diagram again, it appears to be the driver's side. The PS is a little different in its mounting, and no sign of a gasket.

The problem turned out to be this: there is a small bracket holding another line (to what I don't know). When I reassembled everything, this bracket ended up between the mounting tube and the engine block, as opposed to on top of the tube with the mounting bolt threaded through it (so that the bracket acts like a washer, you dig?)

Anyway, I got everything squared away and swapped the OE torx 30 M6x20 bolts with standard head ones, and treated everything to some gasket maker to boot.

Thanks everyone for your help with pictures, diagrams, ideas and suggestions.

AR forum FTW. <--- (are people still saying that?)

Default No more oil smoke, but...

There is still a persistent (small) leak somewhere. Doing the oil change on the weekend I saw the same little drip of oil coming from the passenger side of the oil pan. Here's a pic form the summer, looks the same now:

So it's not the cam cap, cam adjuster seal, or valve cover gasket. What else could it be?

I still have the a similar leak on mine after doing the cam caps, valve cover and cam tensioner seals too. I think mine is leaking from the oil supply lines to the turbos.

I'm just not worried about mine at this point.

Thanks, I'll start looking in the area.

Let us know what you find. I wouldn't mind putting a stop to my leak as well if it's easy enough. I honestly have just not looked enough into mine to know what it is for sure.

It's probably not going to be until next spring. Winter is here in the sub-Arctic and I won't be tackling anything until the snow's gone (I don't have a garage/I'm too lazy.)
