Default ipod2car and 2003 AR with Bose

I just saw http://www.ipod2car.com which looks like a local knock-off of Icelink. And I'm very interested.

But after scouring the forum here, I'm a little confused about whether this will work with my 2003 Bose Premium Sound System.

Can someone please confirm whether the in-dash 6-disc CD changer that I have also has an EXTERNAL changer port connector for use with the ipod2car or icelink?

Also, just for clarification, what is the specific difference between the audio system in my car and a non-Bose system? Is it just the amp+speakers, or is the head unit + indash CD changer also different?

Thanks for your patience from a newbie, who's a bit confused.

Default Welcome....

its the same head unit...know as symphony II. The diffs are the amp and the speakers. The unit on an 03 has the available inputs.

The http://www.ipod2car.com site says that you have to connect their unit to the cable in the driver's rear storage bin. This is where you tools are and where the Phatnoise or Aux cd changer goes. I don't know if you can hook it into the head unit directly.

Default I too am interested

Looking at the web site and the install insructions, it looks like it should plug into the back of the radio units CD changer port. For those who have the installed a Ice link, our Bose radio does have the CD port in the back of the head unit not the rear of the car , correct?

I am going to call IPOD2CAR today and see what other info they can give me.

Default ipod2 car update

Well to add to the confusion I called this place.SCARY! anyways, I believe you have to connect to the Right Rear panel where the Bose amp is. Where, I am not real sure. They want me to take a pic and send it to them to see what it looks like.

I will keep you posted on this new adventure!

Why not go with the icelink? It works and is easy to install. Do a search.

OK- I ordered it from www.mp3yourcar.com. It looks like the same thing as Ipod2car, but they were super helpful in getting the right unit to me. They send both cords so you can connect either in the trunk or behind the stereo unit. They also had great customer service, a 30 day return policy. The tech I talked too also mentioned that quite a few have been put into Audi's and all have been working great. In doing research I have heard too many problems with the Ice link ( mostly that the wheel controls don't always work and unit does not always turn off. And horror stories on Dension customer service).
Price was $194 shipped.

http://www.mp3yourcar.com</a

Default 2003 additional input

I've pulled the radio (RIGHT TOOLS) from the dash and installed a harness to add an audio input. The harness plugged directly into the "external CD player connector" on the back of the radio. All I do is push the CD button twice to get the input from my MP3 player. The display on the radio says "CDC" which probably stands for CD Changer or something.

GET THE RIGHT TOOLS TO PULL THE RADIO!!! Making your own as some have suggested can result in some small scratches and lots of frustration.

http://www.samstagsales.com/vwaudi.htm</a

Let us know how the NEO unit works out!
The product and installation info on the mp3yourcar.com site re. the NEO unit does look promising. I am curious that their documentation specifically states that 2004 A6s are not supported. Owning a 2004 AR 4.2 (Allroad is based on the A6 platform, right?) makes me wonder if the NEO unit will work for my car. I've emailed the mp3yourcar folks to find out. In any case looking forward to learning of your experience once you have the unit installed.
