Looking at buying 04 AR
I keep reading about this vehicle being unreliable and too costly . Then i hear others say if you love your AR fix it and enjoy it. Is it really that bad? I was told that the 04 & 05 models are more reliable than previous years. The one I'm looking at is at an Audi dealer with the 2 year Audi certified warranty. Currently own a 2000 A4 2.8, but need more room.

I have an 04 V8 that I bought in 10/05 with 194 miles.I now have 114k+ and the only major problem ..
was the air bags.They cost me $600 from Arnott and I replaced them myself in an afternoon.

I bought an early make 04 2.7t tip and have had the following problems in one year:
Torque Converter (fixed mid year 04)
Transmission
Both front suspension air bags
all front bushings
prop seal
tire pressure module bad
Car has never left me stranded, and warranty covered 11k of the 12k due.
My AR has 43k miles now.
My view, get an A6 Avant with the 4.2 unless you really need the air suspension.
