Looking for information on breakdowns after 50k miles
I've been driving my AR since they first started coming off the lines almost 3 years ago. I'm coming close to 50k miles and I have lingering concerns about maintenance costs to 150k miles. Can folks please post issues you've confronted after your warranty expired? I'm looking for folks with tons of mileage to reply. And I mean big stuff like the dash going haywire, engine trouble (blown turbos), stereo dead - stuff like that.
Thanks

This may help a little but I do have an extended warranty
Know this is not exactly what you are looking for. Currently just over 63k. My ar is currently in the shop for one bad turbo, vacuum pump, and belt tensioners -- $~4500 parts and ~17 hrs labor @ $80/hr. I also had the left front shock explode late last year, think it was around 58k but was covered and do not have a price on this one.

Treerun, no problems after 98,000 miles...
...believe it or not. I'm about to "turn over" the odometer and the only frustration I've encountered is the high cost of preventative maintenance ($1,600 for the 90,000 mile overhaul which was performed at 60,000 and that included belt changes). I spent $3,900 for a 150,000 extended warranty and nothing's broken so far. If you've been reading my posts you know that last week I put on my third set of tires and they're also very expensive -- nearly $900 for a set of four Goodyears but I'm happy with the traction, the quiet ride and the fact that I'm averaging 49,000 miles on a set with some tread to spare.
Hope this helps you.

Which is why I traded my turbo Volvo for a normally aspirated Audi
Like death and taxes, you can't avoid a blown turbo forever. It's got to go and when it does, it's big bucks. However, yours seems to have gone way too early.

IMHO, better safe than sorry..for me it has been definetly worth it.
Just make sure that if you decide to get the extended warranty, get a good company (mine will only cover the bad turbo and not replace them in sets). I know you wouldn't do it any other way...8^)

No probs at almost 60K miles
no warranty either. Me, Bentley, VAG-COM, EKTA, and Craftsman are going to keep this thing going.
Haven't had to do anything yet except change oil.
