Default Motorola HF 1000 handsfree kit install

Just finished an RNS-E and motorola HF1000 install in my allroad. I love the RNS-E but have mixed feelings about the Moto kit. I have an audiovox SMT5600 (windows mobile 2003) and it does not work with the moto kit well.......... I love the handsfree voicedial and power of the kit but I want to give anyone out there a warning to not install this if they have a WM2003 device.....

In my other car (a range rover 1997) I installed a Parrot CK3100 and I love it and it loves my phone.

Probably if I were to do it again Id get the Parrot Evolution. Im just not looking forward to ripping everything out again.

Kudos to TeddyBGame for his wiring harness help with installing the RNS-E - I did not think it could be done without a professional installer and he proved me wrong (took me a while though)

Indeed we have been working on this issue and it seems in MuddyCharles case his SMT5600 is not working with the IHF1000... I recommend to anyone installing any car kit to bench test them first... simply hook up the kits connection and power it with a radio shack 12v power supply. This way you can test functions before ripping into the car.

In this case the SMT5600 is on Motorola's compatible list but this just proves that Bluetooth remains "the wild west" in terms of vendor implementation. I have two customers that have used this phone without issue on the Moto kit but this situation makes me rethink that.

The WM 2003 implementation of Bluetooth may not work well with certain kits - I have a WM2005 (TMO MDA) and it's fine in my 1000 kit. To that end the Parrot kits seem to be universally compatible.
