Mounting 6 pot calipers... expert ideas please...
I had a spare hour last night, so I ripped down a front wheel to the hub, and did a little measuring and blueprinting. I have one formula right now for brakes that would work, but would put the mount for the calipers OUTSIDE the standard mount.
So, ascii-art style, with the following legend:
F=hub flange
C=caliper mounting ears
M=caliper mounts on vehcile
Instead of, as intended:
F.......MMCC
F.......MMCC
F
F
F
F
F
F.......MMCC
F.......MMCC
It would be more like:
F...CCMM
F...CCMM
F
F
F
F
F
F...CCMM
F...CCMM
The Mount is about .663", and the Caliper ear is about .875" or something.
The former/stock setup puts the vector of the braking force relatively close to the plane of the mounts...this potential solution moves the braking force out of that plane by about 1.5"
Sorry, no mm - calipers are imperial.
So, I'm trying to keep the braking force as much inline with the caliper mounts as possible, but mechanically, I can't see it being terribly bad to just use good fasteners and locate it that far out...
I dunno. I am going to measure some other rotors tomorrow that may obviate this setup/concern.
Thanks for any knowledgable ideas.

I'm chuckling as I write "I'm working on it"...
I measured some B6S4 rotors today, which may be closer to what I'm looking for. Think I'll tear down the wheel again Saturday and do some more mockup.
I still have some other rotors to look at as well.
