Default Is my tranny going?

Driving into work this morning the car isn't holding gears well at all. Will rev up like it's in neutral until I back off the throttle a bit and then she'll seem to engage into a gear. Also, now when I shift it into reverse it shifts hardeer now than just yesterday.

Is this usually a trait of a failing tranny or could it be something else?

Default Another "Olympic" Blue.

We bought one of those about two years ago. Our local dealer ran the service history, and told us the tranny had been replaced under warranty at about 28,000. We blamed it on "smokey four-wheel burn-outs" by the German Ski Federation. Has the trans been serviced recently?

I believe it was done at 40K (dealer service?)

Why did you get rid of your "Olympic Blue" allroad?

Default We still have it. . .

It's part of our happy Audi family. We've got a 94 cabriolet, a 2000 A4 Avant, and the 02 Allroad. We also had a 93 90S that is now deceased. Do you have access to a VAG to pull trans codes?

Default This sounds soooooo familiar....

My car is doing the same thing, all Revs - no go.
Bring it back to the dealer while it has warranty, it could well be that your TC is going sour or they did not fill it to the required specs when they serviced the transmission.

Usually a hard "bang" when selecting reverse was a good sign of missing Trans fluid (in my case).....but it could be worse......

Default Trans service is not automatically part of any Audi Assurance. You would pay for

it if you had it done. Issues like this underscore the potential value of an extended service contract. Imagine the cost and hassle of replacing a trans in an Audi.

Default ^^My guess to. Probably 17125 torque converter seal is my guess. Tranny's seem pretty

tough. Although Audi does not repair them they simply replace them from what I am told.
