Need to turn an allroad into an S6...

What needs to be done to the suspension to make an allroad behave like an S6? I want an S6, but can't live with the Tiptronic. I feel like my only option is to get an allroad 6-speed and do a stage II+ engine conversion and some suspension work. I'm worried about the suspension though, since the allroad was designed for a different purpose than the S6.

Any comments from experience would be welcome.

Okay..

You need

Suspension
Brakes
Chip, Turbo back exhaust

Chip/turbo back exhaust: easy just takes money (You said better then a S6 right?)

Brakes: Working on something.. But Potentially S6 Dual stage Brake booster and a set of Brembo/Stoptech/Movit brakes (Again better then a S6): Not as tested, standard brake upgrade is just money, the brake booster is something I plan on trying by end of year)

Suspension: (shocks and Struts) Here we hit a problem area, well maybe not!!!! if you want better suspension you can pull the stock adjustable suspension out and get one of many aftermarket setups installed: This just takes money, fairly straight forward!

However, if you want to retain the adjustability, then we need to get the front shocks revalved, increase the dampening and fid the lack of rebound. Rears are auto leveling (for towing etc and are air filled), so potentially by fixing the front shocks the rest of the suspension will feel fine = S6 or close. However doing just the front shocks might really make the rear shocks stand out as being on the weak side..
This is an area where we have talked but have not done much. The biggest issue is not wanting to fork out the $$ for a new set of allroad shocks, just to cut up. So if you can assist me in locating a set of used front ar shocks, we can take this to the next phase.

Suspension: Sway bars
H-sports will make the allroad handle as it should of from the factory, however I do think a call to Mike@Hsport is in order to see if they could go bigger (but then the swaybars are made for stock suspension, you may not need these large sways if the shock/strut combo was redone).

S6 body:
S6 has the better looking fenders/flares. The allroad has the better bumpers. The s6 has the better seats and the interior is just a bit nicer done (but then again the S6 is not as utility as the allroad is).

That should about sum it up, me thinks.

Thanks. I'm going to chew on this a bit....

Might just have go with the S6 and live with a tiptronic tranny to avoid the suspension issues.

BrianG, S6 is great, but with only the H-Sport bars, 18s with 245s and Chips

What you have is Very Close to the S6,in handling with better ride comfort. and Way better in many more aspects. And yes I want the sport seats for my ar.

Whats the price diff, 03 S6 used for like $53K +? 03 AR new for like $38K or so

on dealer lot, maybe it does have a couple of miles?

So take $10K and build the allroad. :)

Moto is right, I totally spaced on the wheel/tire combo..

Just drive them! :)

make sure you actually drive a 6spd allroad vs a tip S6 before you decide

Right because if someone had offered me a trade for my allroad to an S6 for under

$10K more out of my pocket, I would of done it! I tried but the deals were not out there. yes even with the ugly bumpers :)
