Default A newly released coil pack recall... is it true? And what type of coils?

I've heard through the rumor mill that there is another very recently released recall for the Audi VW coil packs again. Someone through the grape-vine has just gone in with a 2001 Jetta 1.8t and had all of his coils replaced. I wasn't able to find out if this was for push down or bolt down coil packs. Does anyone know?

Only the push down coils were recalled, never the bolt down. The recall is going on almost a year & half now I believe, so it's nothing new.

I have the bolt down, besides that it is the older style and their more expensive than the push down, what are the benefits of the push down?

They moved the POS circuit into the coil, which is supposed to offer hotter spark delivery. Issue is, the POS modules that used to blow that sit on the air filter box for the bolt down coils are now the same ones blowing inside the push down coils. That's one of the reasons I don't like them. Easier to replace a POS module, than deal with coils blowing and having to deal with the connectors deteriorating.

Thank you for your feed back, my Allroad uses the bolt downs. I'm slowly planing the collection of parts to install the LS2 coils into my car to eliminate the ICM's and these weak coils.. I'm tired of not being able to run with a large-normal sized spark plug gap.. stock gap and .026 is silly.
I'll have to call the dealership and see if my wife's car( 03, A4 3.0) qualifies... It would be nice to renew the ignition system.

The NGK spark plugs for the 2.7T are .032 gapped, not .026. The A4 3.0 should have the coils covered. Just call the dealer and give them your VIN to find out.
