Default To gaurantee fit, and maintain the stock steering geometry, yes...

Are your aftermarket wheels 17x7.5ET35?

If they're a larger diameter, you may get by with greater offset. Example, yzf996... runs 18x8ET32 wheels w/o spacers.

Width is the issue, not diameter, no?

Default Both... larger diameters might fit larger widths since there is greater control arm clearance ->

....the further one moves from the hub.

Example:

Stock Size - 17x7.5ET25
Audi Optional. Size - 18x8.5ET20

The larger wheel is 25.4mm wider, implying 12.2mm more "intrusion" towards the wheelwell, if the offset were not to change. Yet, the offset only decreases by 5mm, making the wheel protrude 7.2mm further in, than the stock size.

I assume that the greater radius has something to do with this working, though it could just be tolerances built into the stock specs.

Similary, the OZ 18x8ET32 wheels seem to fit with no spacers. I don't think that 17x8ET32 wheels would fit as easily - just guessing.

Default Right...

...but, unless I'm totally mixed up, offset is purely width related (ignoring stuff like toe-in changes related to diameter). Right?

Default Whew! ->

Every time I try to picture the offset diagram in my head (either TireRack's or a better one I found some place), it hurts. I'm glad I at least that part right.

Default Re: They are RS6 5-spoke

19x9 ET35...I know there 10mm greater offset than the stock 5 spoke. I guess does anyone know if the suspension and control arms are different than that of an S6 or A6..granted there is an air bladder around the strut.

The overall tire height is actually a little smaller 26.74 vs. 26.03
I reached inside the wheel well last night and felt there is already only about 3/4 in. clearance between the control arm and the rubber. There will be an overall inboard increase will be 1.143in. Oviously this will be an issue, I think the last thing i want to do is mess with spacers...Has anyone had experience or reccomend the use spacers, spaceres aren't to highly reccomended i think....plus would spacers require a longer bolt?... I guess i just need to put one of these physically on the car and see what the issues are...
