So did you ever get the oil temp sensor issue debugged?
I have same problem on a 2000 A6 2.7, no oil temp registered on cluster. New sensor & still no change?
Did you trace it down to a wiring issue?

I replaced the unit with a Hella one (after I ran additional grounds, etc.), because even the typically high quality (can't think of the name right now, other good German manufacturer) didn't work either.

Hella sensor oil temp gauge fluctuating
So if i buy the "hella" brand oil temp sensor, my gauge will stop fluctuating? Mine goes from 125-225 degrees every few seconds when the engine is warm. 2000 audi a6 2.7t
