Default OK, new theory on the wobble. Please post your tire info.

I'm referring of course to the front-end wobble/shimmy/vibration that generally occurs between 30-70 most often on tip allroads. Several approaches I've seen to this are replacing the tranmission control module, replacing the drive shaft(s), replacing the rotors, balancing the wheels, or my dealer's solution: Deny there's a problem.

I'm interested to find out if there any correlation on tire brand on this. Please post if you think you have/had this problem, and the tire model on the car then (or now if you don't have the problem). A simple response like "Yes. Pirelli P6 allroad tires." will work.

Thanks!

Default Yes, Pirelli P6 (more)

I did not have the wobble when new, but it began to surface at about 4000 miles. Became progressively worse over time. Just recently replaced Pirelli's with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and wobble gone. It will be interesting to see if it returns as the tires wear.

I have the Goodyear F1 Allroad tires and have never had any wobble or out of balance issue's at all. This is probably the reason Tirerack has the Pirelli tire's for $88.00 each.

Default Yes, stock Goodyears

I think mine is definitely tranny related. I get it at 45 mph but slide the car into neutral at that speed and its gone. This problem was fixed by the dealer with a new transmission control module but came back when I added the GIAC tip chip. Oh well. GIAC said they are working on a fix but I haven't heard any news.

Default Re: OK, Pirelli OME Wobble and Cupping

Frount tires show cupping an there is a wobble at low (25 to 45) I have posted before about the hi-speed wobble and brake vibration. I never had this happen to my 4000S. I was hoping tha with new wheels and tires this would go away. Noticed cupping at 7k and now a 13k it sounds like I have chunky off road tires.

Default Had noticeable 45 mph wobble w/OEM Goodyears (more)

on my 2001. Tires were cupped at 13K. I changed to Pilot Sport A/S, did a road force balance and 4 wheel alignment. Helped a lot, but at times I can still detect the wobble around 45 mph. My theory is that it is tranny related and amplified by bad or unevenly worn out/unbalanced/unaligned tires/wheels.
