Phase 1 of my spring project is complete....

I'm working my way through the parts listed in my sig. I just finished replacing the timing belt. My car has 53K on the clock but I figured since I'm pulling the whole front end off, I might as well. I bought the kit from ECS. I also made the cam locking tool based on pictures I've seen in RMcQ's TB tech article because I'm too cheap to buy one. Since I'm done with it, anyone who wants to borrow it is more than welcome to.
Next step is to pull the engine... I'm just waiting on the engine hoist to arrive, hopefully this weekend.

Nappy-
LOL with the project, keep us up to date. What are key dimensions of locking tool? Need overall length and length of offset section; looks like 2.5" wide and 3/16" stock. I can drill holes to match once car is apart but wanted to get blank ready. I'm also too cheap to buy one.
Appreciate offer to loan it out. You anywhere near central NJ?

Re: Phase 1 of my spring project is complete....
I'm in CA.
The offset I used was 2.25", though 2.5 would also work. The stock I used was roughly 3/16" would have used thicker if it was available in the immediate sense.
I used the "story-pole" technique. I had taped a piece of scrap steel I had laying around to the cam gears and scribled reference marks. Then I transfered these marks to the final piece. Lucky for me, we have a shear and a break press here at work, so I was able to make something pretty. I'll pull some measurements when I get home and email them to you.
