Picking up 2001 tomorrow in Cleveland, what else should I make sure I have...
At least two sets of keys, maintenance manual, owners manual, radio code card, pump for tire??. I plan on hooking up the VAG-COM to look for codes. It'll be under warranty until June of 2005 so most codes will be OK with me as its covered. But mainly I'll be looking for crash sensor codes and possibly any other codes that might have suggested previous damage. I had an A6 2.7T and know what the sound of troubled turbos sounds like, but again it's under warranty. Any other suggestions?

Just make sure the suspension works
Manually take it up, take it down. Switch to auto and go fast, go slow. Make sure the ride-height feature is working properly. It's a great car but that's the weak link.
Congrats and enjoy!

You keep saying that this is a weak link yet you are the only one complaining about it.
if there is a weak link it is tires, tip lag, wobble, wipers, and maybe turbos. No offense to you friend, but you keep trying to scare the allroad n00bs with your suspension horror stories that are clearly just poor diagnosis/repair not weak parts or bad design.

I've been watching allroads for about a month now
I was hoping I could find the previous owner here. I watched eBay and my good friend ran Manheim and Adesa auction reports for me so I know I got a good buy. It's black, 34K miles, with the following options: Convenience Pkg, Premium, Bose, Rear side airbags and the twin-spoke wheels. Purchase price is $27,300. A Mercedes dealer has it on the west side of Cleveland. Stoddard...my stomping grounds... had a Highland Green with less equip and about the same mileage for $36,995! I wanted to lease a 2004 allroad in Cobalt but the lease rates have gotten worse Nov, Dec and Jan.

You should get all the different parts for the cargo area:
1. Doggie net
2. cargo area retractable cover
3. cargo net
1 and 2 can not be installed at the same time so I can see how a previous owner could easily forget to include one or the other during a trade-in. A Mercedes dealer surely wouldn't catch the error either.
You could also check to be sure that the tool box with jack is there, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't be.

yea, good luck! I'd recomend bringing it to Fred Baker and having them do a once over.
They are one of the best dealers in the country. You should have some great quattro weather for the pickup. Watch out with the twin spoke wheels, snow can get stuck in them.
