I was unable to retrive any usable pics. from my dead digital camera(damn it!). But all is not lost. I pulled the "relay" and scanned it in. The 605 is a pain in the butt to get open so, sorry no internal pics. Also I talked to Dano (part of the excellent service team at Avantage Audi in Houston TX.)he is going to see if they have an old/nonoperative relay that I can use to get some fresh pics. so I can pass on what I know about the internals of this "relay", if you have seen the inside of the 605 you will know what I am talking about (its no wonder it costs so much)
If Dano is unable to find me a relay, is anybody willing to ship me their relay for a few days? If so, e-mail me at quattro0001@hotmail.com and we will work something out. This web site has been a great help for me over the past two years, I don't mind returning the courtesy.
Thanks,

I have to be honest, I actually just put my 628 back in.. After driving the S4
I really liked the feel of it's steering and with the relay out of the AR it's just not very smooth. So I opted for the servotronic feel and it's actually not as bad as I remember when I first picked it up (thus the reason I pulled it out).. I like the relay in now..

can you explain servotronic to me please, and the 605 and 628 relays??
I had my power steering go kaput a little
while ago. I got the car fixed in a day, and
when I got it back, I was wishing my power steering
pump was still broken. The steering was sooo
much nicer before they fixed it!!
So where are the 605 and 628 relays? and what
happens if I take them out?
Too bad the S4 and A4 forums don't have the info
they used to have, or I probably wouldn't need
to ask about this.
TIA

Here's a link to the tech section. The 605 was in the 2001s and the 628 in the 2002s.
The 605 and the 628 are essentially the same thing, but from what I have read, the 628 doesn't give as much boost.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec60.shtml</a
