Default 2001 Silver/Tip w/ 67K

1. Replaced driver's side window clips. Just noticed that passenger side window starting to raise a little slowly.

2. Driver's seat will not heat, but steering wheel will. BUT, will check under seat for loose wiring first (so, this doesn't count yet).

That's it, I believe.

Default 2001 delivered Dec 2000. 6-sp GIAC chipped. 83,xxx miles.

There have been $260 of problems with the car since the warranty expired at 50,000 miles.

I have appointed myself the forum no-warranty-guinea-pig and have been keeping track of my out of warranty expenses for the record. Hit this link to see installment #4 which includes a list of all problems encountered to date.

Default RMcQ - Did you chip right away? Do you love your chip?

Thanks for the update on repair. I'm piling miles on my '04 in a hurry and I like keeping rides a long time, so I'm interested. My last few cars have gone over 100k from new before selling; one of them to 176k miles with no big problems (Chevy K Blazer). I'm hoping to avoid sticky situations in the distant future. I just read about a 5,000 wire harness falure on an out of warranty S4 2.7

clicky

Default I chipped toward end of warranty. The chip is great and don't get freaked out by...

those types of posts. I argue here time and time again that you can't figure maintenance/repair costs based on what the dealer would charge you for repairs. There are much more viable options such as an independant mechanic or DIY. That $5,000 wiring harness repair is just stupid. If the guy has 54,000 miles on his car and a tuner installed boost guage than he should just go back to the local tuner and have them troubleshoot the problem. I would bet that they come up with a better solution than 'fork over $5,000'. Silly.

Thanks. I'm considering a GIAC flash when the time comes.

Default Oy. Here goes.

2001 with 56K miles. The following problems were resolved under warranty.

Intermittent spontaneous alarm triggering.
Front air bag failure.
Suspension pressure control block failure (twice) and compressor failure (once).
Instrument cluster failure (twice).
Throw-out bearing (clutch replaced, too).
Upper sump and cam-seal oil leaks.
Windshield washer pump leakage.
Torn upper control arm bushings.
Torn bypass valve.

I've bought an extended warranty.
