Default Pulling the trigger on an ECU upgrade Tuesday, any final words of wisdom?..

I am planning on ordering a GIAC X chip from Induktion Sports in MD. I have spoken with ED several times and he was always very helpful.

I had MTM software in my A6 but I thought I would give something else a try with my new ride.

It was a tossup between GIAC and the new APR software but they aren't socketed and supposedly don't offer a 93 octane program for an 01 Allroad?

Any suggestions?

Default I think both are good choices. APR should have 93 octane for either the AR or A6 2.7. Get your ECU

number and go to there web site and look at both the Allroad and A6 2.7 area, If you see your number you are in. And you can get, 91, 93 or 100 octane programs.
Ciao
I just did APR and I am posting above, soon.

Default APR has 93 for the ar... just give it thought about "what to do when you go back to the Audi dealer"

With APR..push a button and your back in stock.. with GIAC it's open the ECU, un plug, plug in.. and find "tamper proof screws" to make the ECU and the chastity belt look right..

Default Giac may or may not have a remote avaliable for your AR. I must admit that I like not having a

remote to carry with APR. I can do it all from the cruse control. If you are getting stock and 93 octane program should you consider (for a few bucks more) getting a 91 octane program so you can travel to low octane regions that have really expensive gas like Oregon!!! :&gt

Default i can't justify the 3 programs..

based on east cost avail of 93 and 94 octaen
(sunoco). So I got stock and 93. YOu have to determine the cost v benefit of all three. the few times you may need to pump 91, it may not be worth it... so just go stock in that case.

Just my 02...

Default I am working on an IBE chip switch but it appears that they are back ordered?

I have also heard some reliability issues so I may wait until they perfet them a bit more.

Default Yes that is what they told me. And they had no idea when they would have it. My birthday was coming

up so I went for the APR. No complaints so far about performance.
I will try to do some comparison charts with the vag com between stock and 91 octane when I have some time.
