Default RE: Painting '04 AR 4.2 front/rear bumper's

For those who have the '04 AR 4.2 with the all body color option (as I do), what is the average cost to paint just the impact sections front/rear bumpers? I have Parktronic, and have concerns about the sensors during the painting process. I suspect the body shop will need to remove and paint separately. Of course, I am worried about potential damage to those very expensive sensor/bezels, and the fact that an auto body shop may never tell you they damaged them. They would just re-install.

Your thought's ?????

Default I would think they would mask and paint the bumbers in situ - I'm not sure if the sensors can ...

be painted over and still work or just masked with a round dot of tape. I did a googgle for parktronic sensors and there are several aftermarket vendors that say they can be painted to match body color. Your body fender shop should know- or call a shop that would do a lot of Escalades or other vehicles that have parktronic as standard.

I had my full front and rear bumpers painted on my '03 2.7T, and my fender flares too.

Everything looks factory original and I too have parktronic which works just fine, just like my '01 A6 4.2, which also had parktronic.

Don't sweat it with a good Audi certified paint and body shop -- you can tell if they are certified 'cause they have a plaque that says they are allowed to work on Audi A8's and that the technicians, one of them at least, has been to Germany for the "audi paint training."

My dealer told me where the two shops in Cincinati that were Audi paint trained, I went to the one that also had the A8 trainging -- maybe I paid more.

I am happy however.

Mark: Thank you for the feedback. What is an average cost to paint just the impact section of the front/rear bumper, which is the only gray painted area on my car?

The body shop that is currently scheduled to repair my car estimated approx. $500 just to do the impact section of my rear bumper. FYI..I did see the replacement front bumper. It came through with just primer. Hell, it would be less labor for them to paint the entire front silver. But, $500 to mask, paint rear bumper and blend into fenders. Sounds high to me.

Default RE: I have parktronic also and my local body shop

quoted $1500 including the flairs. The disembly and reassembly is time consuming.
