Default Agreed, but it is the best mileage you can get for good AWD, read quattro...

my '01 TIP regularly gets 19 to 20 in mixed driving, 17-18 running around town, stop and go and up to 22 on the highway with nice wind conditions...like sailing

This car is a tank but for what you get the mileage isn't bad...real world for some of the pretend UTE's is under 17 in town and some WAY under (like the Equinox) the only way you can get decent (above 24) is for a Suburu, Honda CR-V or other baby SUV...what I want is quattro...I have driven them all and I think it even beats my 4X4's for everyday driving.

The new Yukon's are supposed to get decent mileage but I haven't heard from anyone first hand and I still don't ever want the rollover risk again IMHO...good luck with your search.

Default 6 speed 2.7t...anywhere from 18-27

bumper to bumper in NYC=18,
Locked cruise at 70MPH without the AC compressor is 27...real world station to station driving.

I generally average about 21-22 in day to day.
This is on 93 octane... the MPG goes down with anything less..in 1:1 ratio to Octane/Cost/MPG.

Its lot's worse with a Tip and a 4.2 is even more so.

Default 2.0T gas mileage/performance better than 2.5XT Subie's

I consider the Allroad to be a much more capable car than the Subaru's. Even so with the A4 Wagons. And the 2.0T's get better gas mileage.

Default averaging 19-20 mpg with mixed driving (chipped)

I take a 400 mile trip on the highway and average 23 - 24 mpg. (this includes 3 mountain passes and I do this trip about 10 times a year) Around town it is usually 18-19 mpg.
