Default Replacing my '00 A6 2.7T with an '03 allroad...

Cobalt/Beige, Tip, Premium, Bose, Cold pkg. I'll be picking it up Thursday. It came with Pirellis, but after reading the comments on them in this forum, I'm wondering if I should push to have them replaced with the Goodyears. Is it worth the effort? Has anyone here been able to get that done?

If I were you, I'd just run the Pirellis til the tread bars show up (12K on my 01 allroad), then replace with the Pilot Sport A/S.

So far, 7K on the Michelins and the tread still looks good. The winter performance on these tires is excellent, too.

I'd go straight to Pilot Sport A/S -- and while you're at it get 245 x 50 x 17"s -- the tires that come with the thing are crap, but they will "give" you a $300 allowance for them -- the Michelin's at costco, installed, etc are about $270 ea. Tirerack is less, but then you pay dealer to install, unless you make that "part of the deal" -- which seems to be pretty easy for the salesperson do get done. I kept the original tires -- they are wrapped up in my garage -- service manager said they'd be fine for 7 years, I have a three year lease -- perhaps I'll mount them on the car in about 33 months when I dump out of my lease.

I've read very few good things about any of the stock allroad tires -- I don't care who supplies them (so say many here on audiworld). . . .

Agree, but the Goodyears seem to last a little longer

Since I live in New England, I was planning on getting snow tires next winter. Do you think the Michelins would be a good substitute for true snow tires?

Pilot Spots are even better. Dalmation tread design.

Default The Pilot A/S is excellent, but if you have to pick b/w the stock ones...

I would prefer the Goodyears. They are not great tires, but they last well if you rotate them. I got 40K miles out of mine before going to the Pilots in 245/50-17.
