At the risk of asking a dumb question, I'm assuming jack stands are placed in the same place that...
the arrows designate for jacking, right? Is there a visible frame spot behind those arrows that I'm missing? Otherwise my plan is to put the stands in the same vicinity as the jack (per the arrows) with the suspension in jack mode, of course.

I haven't used jack stands yet...
But this is where I jack up my car from. I do have 2 jacks and 2 of those black nylon blocks to fit in those groves... Check out the URL to see what I am talking about...
I know Grios makes some pads for jack stands, but I've never used them. So I cannot personally recommend them. I can however say that everything I have ever bought from them is 1st class... None of that cheap crap.

There have been some discussions of this in the past; if you
STFA I'm sure you'll find something. I use a few layers of thick, foam-backed carpet cut to fit the jack and the stands, and either jack at the pinch points indicated in the book and put the stands under the subframe, or reverse it (jack to subframe, stands at pinch points) depending on what I'm doing.
