A previous thread by mustbeaudi got me thinking about my first car. My guess is we all know what our first car was and most of the details about it.
Mine was a 1975 VW Scirroco that I paid $1900.00 for back in 1987. By the time I was done with it I had put on a larger Weber carb, lowered it a few inches, installed a Zender air dam and rear spoiler, (it went faster with these.......I swear), repainted it VW Mars Red, slapped on 15's, that right I said 15's with some Pirelli rubber, and some Bosch driving lights. I could go on and on about a lot of other things I lovingly did to my beloved Scirocco but I think we all get the point.
I thought this could be good for some interesting reading and a little break in the action of the day to day questions.

w/factory front air dam, rear spoiler. Purchased for $2100 hard earned dollars! Added air shocks, Cragers and BFG radial T/A's and Pioneer 8-track player. Drove for 6 months before it was totalled. I was heartbroken! Way back in 1977.

'67 GTO...
It belonged to my parents so if I wanted to drive it to school I had to get up early and take my dad to work. His job did not have an exact time that he got off work so I had to sit around and wait for a call. It was still worth it. Then for graduation I was given a choice of a trip to Hawaii or the GTO. Hmmm, lets see --- an 18 year old male with an intrest in the opposite sex. A lifetime of freedom or a week in the sand.
I selected the car. Duh!

The first car I bought for myself....
<center><img src="http://www.imperialclub.com/Events/Chattanooga02/Dcp02410.jpg"></center><p>1974.... I was 17 years old, I paid $100.00 for a 1963 Chrysler Newport with 150K on it.
Replaced the JC Whitney Fire Ring Plugs, used a wire wheel on the push rods and rocker arms to get off the years of sludge. Went to RAYCO for knit woven seat covers, Earl Shibe Paint job $49.95, painted the door handles (I was ahead of the times.)
Push Button automatic, powerful 383 SE engine; parallel parked one day and locked bumpers with a VW bug and towed it down the street without feeling it. Pushed it right back, jumped on the bumpers to unlock it. My friends lifted the front of the bug to put it back in its place.
I had my first accident with it, put 20K on it and sold it for $250.00

Always wanted to pretend I was Starsky and Hutch with that car but my imagination couldn't get past the midnight blue paint and rust. Driving it in the snow was fun though!

A bodyshop special my dad purchased for me from a family friend. Salvage title & terrible paint job which started to fade and wash out after few months
