Rut roh, Raggy...
My driver's side air bag started leaking last week, so I ordered a replacement, and got outer CV boots to put on while I was at it - mine were looking pretty creased last time I changed the oil. The car has mostly been parked since I discovered the leak - I've been borrowing one from a friend - but I had to use the allroad to run a quick errand yesterday.
Parts arrived today, so I sent off a note to a friend who's offered me the use of his lift, then I remembered I heard a bit of groaning/grinding when backing the car into the garage last night. I went out to check, and sure enough, the driver's side CV boot is torn.
There's grease on the boot, of course, and there's some that's been thrown onto the rim, but not much. I'm almost positive that the boot wasn't torn before yesterday, but I can't be completely sure. Am I probably okay without replacing the axle if I just jack up the car and do the job here, or am I screwed? I fear that mod money may be vanishing before my eyes...

Just get the entire front axles done....
...get rebuilt units from raxles.com. Inexpensive and very well done. And they aren't hard to replace.
I'm not a beleiver in just replacing boots. That's almost the same labor as replacing the entire axle with a rebuilt unit. Might as well just do that.

$434 all in but there is usually a waiting list at least for MT6 axles.
Back at the end of last year Marty was having to wait for one customer to return their cores before he could turn them round for the next. If anyone sits on the job for a while this can result in a long lead time and taking a position on the waiting list. Best get on the phone now.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear.
I have a friend in town who worked out a good discount on a new joint for me, so I'll bring it with me when I go to throw the car up on the lift. If I pull the boot and there's still grease in the joint, I'll clean it out and if it looks good, I'll just re-grease it, put the new boot on and return the joint.
