Default shopping for an ar. advice?

just convinced my wife to let me get a subaru wrx for $26k, when i see ar's online in the low $30's with 30,000-ish miles. hold on, change of plans! we just sold our 93 100csQ 5sp, so already big audi fans.

been watching these "factory buybacks" from cmg/nas in pittsburgh on ebay with some suspision, but this car looks mouthwatering. any advice, pointers, land minds, etc.? i'm in nyc, if that makes a difference. two notoriously bad dealers in the area, zumbach and classic auto. would like to avoid buying from them if possible.

thanks, hope to be joining you soon.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=2411973020&amp;cat egory=6055">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=2411973020&amp;cat egory=6055</a</li></ul>

Default Re: shopping for an ar. advice?

The only advice is forget the Subaru and definitely go with the AR. The only problem I have with my '03 AR is that I don't get to drive it enough - my wife beats me to the keys almost every day. As for dealers, I have brought my last four Audi's from from Danbury Audi in Connecticut. Only a stones throw from NYC and well worth the drive for great service.

Default thanks

i'm looking at a 2001 6speed with 30k miles for about $32k. seems like a great price, apparently the guy can't sell it because it's not automatic. all the dealer cars are much more expensive, with higher miles. thanks again

Default A word of caution.....

Living with a very unsatifactory allroad ownership experience, I would advise caution in getting an Audi buy back car. Despite what the salesman tells you in hopes to get you to buy the car, Audi is generally very srtict on their buy back policy and tend to offer low ball deals unless lawyers get involved. A person has to be pretty sick of the car to go through the process. This car has been a headache to someone and unfortunately while some allroads have been very dependable, others like mine have had a multitude of problems. Yes, it has an extended warranty, but that is of very little solice if your allroad is constantly in the shop. I also have had a good ownership experience with my older Audi, but the allroad has unfortunately been the most unreliable car I have ever owned. My advice is to not buy the car unless you can contact the orginal owner and get the real story.

Default good dealer on LI: Biener

I must be lucky, my car has been flawless, granted it only has 7K miles.

My buying experience and first service was very pleasant at Biener.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Default My advise...

First you have to be aware that when you buy a buy-back car you also sell it like that. This will probably come back to you whenever you try to sell the car, unless you plan to keep the car for 7-8 years where at that time it'll be proven that the car has no problems (or that they were fixed when Audi bough it back).
Ron is absolutely correct, in fact there was a post a couple of weeks ago about this car, discussing if the reason stated was true or not. If you really want to buy the car and what I stated on the first paragraph is not an issue for you, then I'd contact another dealer with the VIN# to get their advise (use them to tell you why you should not buy that car).
Last, I was on the same situation, my wife wanted to save some money and by the Outback. Boy I'm glad I didn't listen to her, this car is the finest machine I've ever owned!
Good luck,
Martin
