Short Shifter question.
I did a bunch of research through searches and calling around, and have yet to get a decisive answer, so.....
Anyone install a Tanoga SS in an 03 allroad? AWE said I would need to get a new shift ***, and potentially an A6 boot.
I know you can re-use the stock ***, but you have to re-clamp it. So, do I need the shifter boot? Do I really need a different ***? If I get the tanoga, should I get it with the bearing cartidge installed?
Thanks-

Milpitas2.7T can answer this question better since he just did it
he reused **** and boot. cartridge bearing could be a waste of money. if the upper part of the shifter does not clamp onto the inner race of the bearing then the bolt will just rotate inside the bearing. someone else might have some helpful input?

I installed the Tanoga (UUC would be the same) or do a toyguy mod!
Used the entire stock setup...
Pop the shiftboot over the stock ****. Loosen the factory clamp pull up. Replace that clamp with a normal small 1/4-1/2" hose clamp. Works fine, the shift **** actually threads on to the new shifter rod (I twisted just so it was tight, didn't get too manly on it, as I wasn't sure how many times I would be able to twist it before I stripped or it didn't hold any longer.
But it's tight, can't really turn it anymore and it's about perfect.
AGAIN! for $85 the Toyguy mod is probably the way to go guys
