Since we're still talking about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S,,,
Does the allroad perform better all-around (traction, handling, noise, comfort, wear) shod with 225-55-17s or 245-50-17s, both sizes mounted on stock wheels?

If you look at the spec's there is only 0.3 inch increase in width. But I went for it! And...
Here is a link that has some good comparison data to other high end all season tires!

Hasn't been tried (and reported on) yet...
That is, with the exact same model of tire...

It seems since the 7" rim is minimal for the 245-50-17, causing tire rollover on turns...
but if one bumps the pressure up to conteract this, you get a harsher ride and uneven tire wear. On the flipside, the 50s have the same diameter as OEM (26.8", 772 rev/mi) and the 55s are taller (27.1" 764 rev/mi), resulting in a 1% speedometer error.

Stock rims are 7.5. It's my impression...
...that there's a little more sidewall bulge with the 245s than with the OEM 225s, but, at least for my two-piece OEM wheels, this helps to protect them a little better.

It seems the Michelins runs small...
being that their 245 is essentially the same as our P6 225
It's kind of like buying shoes for your feet. You might wear an 11 from one mfgr and a 12 from another.
