So, what's the deal with that wheel alignment bolt thingie? <m>>>
I finally put my snow tires on, and this time I remembered to get out the plastic alignment gadget. (Based on how fragile it seems, I even went out and got a bolt [which, incidentally, needs to be 14mm, 1.5 pitch (fine thread)] and cut the head off, so I'd have something sturdy.)
The last time I changed tires, I forgot the thing, but I didn't have any trouble without it -- I just set the wheels on the hubs, and they hung there patiently waiting for me to put the lug bolts in.
With this alignment gadget, you've got to put the wheel on over it, and then jiggle it onto the hub anyway. It seems like an unnecessary pain.
Am I missing something?
