Ok - the suspension now sits in the lowest setting and blinks, just blinks, no up or down arrow blinking, just the level is blinking. At the same time the yellow indicator is illuminated on the dash. So is it the sender unit?

Without pulling the code it's imposible to know. These cars are too expensive to throw parts at.

Parked it in the sun for a few hours and it fixed itself. Don't ask why or how but it has not failed since. No leaks could be found. The only residual effect is that the suspension no longer climbs back to level three automatically.
