SUV comparo with allroad included
Disappointing that the article is thin on testing facts and no photos of allroad, but others may find it interesting.

I feel the same! They've wasted their and others' time and money ...
if that article is all that they've produced.
I hope that is just a summary and there is a better print version.

Huh?
By now we all should have learned that you shouldn't expect much from Microsoft or MSN. The following statement makes no sense:
And while the BMW was at the top in maneuverability, the three station wagon entries--Audi allroad, Volvo Cross Country and Subaru Outback Sport--showed that a lower center of gravity really makes a difference in handling. They took the next three spots after the BMW.
The allroad's handling is much better than the X5 4.4. I debated which one to buy, but I really felt that the Audi handled much better. I would love to see the stats on that comparison. It is basically impossible for an SUV to have better handling than a low center of gravity wagon.
Then there is this:
The Volvo Cross Country may not have been the top off-road performer, however it scored as the most comfortable, having the best instrumentation and controls, and as the easiest to get into and out of.
Give me a break. Have you ever tried using the stereo in a Volvo!
The comparison test was also silly in that the luxury cars they compared had a avg price variance of about $10K. The allroad isn't cheap, but the X5 V8 and the ML 430 are in the upper $50K range! On the other end of the spectrum you have the Volvo Cross Country at about $36K. That's not exactly a fair comparison.
Reading naive populous drivel such as this is frustrating.
