I had thought Audi decided not to build this car - have they changed their minds?

Default It seems so. I've read news that Audi has decided to build it (as the A8 Avant).

Introducing it in 2006 for European market.
It says "not yet decided for US market because currently stationcars are completely "out" in the US." (It is SUV, SUV and SUV ...)
Name might be "Sportback" instead of Avant. This is the name for a new A3 variant that will arrive later this year.

Pikes Peak will be launched in 2005 as A7 and is primarily intended for US market (will be sold in Europe as well of course)

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/d/52203</a

Default Checked on this and my source relayed the following:

"an A8 Sportback was approved very recently. But there is damned little Avantissimo in it."

Or maybe the Dodge Magnum SRT8 looks like an allroad!
