Tire load question for the group: Is a 93Y or 1433 lbs per tire rating enough
for the allroad? I may be towing a trailer with a few bikes on it later this year.
From my previous post I have a set of 18" rims and new goodyear F1 GS-D3 245/40/18 tires that I have yet to be installed.
The correct size for the allroad should be a 245/45/18 so the 245/40/18 will put my speedometer about 4% off so I can live with that.
I am just wondering if the tires are too light in the load rating department though.
4x 1433 = 5732 pounds
allroad Tip is ~4400 pounds with fluids I am guessing.
This leave me ~1300 pounds for passengers, gear, and trailer tongue weight.
This would put me right at the tires limit though which has me a little leary for a long 10 hour or so road trip.
Opinions everyone?
A)Sell the 245/40/18 and get 245/45/18 rated for 1764 pounds each?
B)Your worrying too much and you'll be fine?
C)I don't know but wanted to vote
D)All of the above :-)

Oooh I didn't realize that it was 20% under. I searched on allroadfaq for the recomended
load rating but couldn't find it.
So what is the recomended load rating?? =)

Recommended rating is 97H? Most results on Tire Rack are 96Y or W
From there it jumps to 100W (Avon Tech M500, General Exclaim UHP, Yokohama AVS ES100, Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position). Do I need to look elsewhere for tires?
The car had Michelin HydroEdge tires when I bought it (rated for 90,000 and the care has 40,000), but they have totally worn out the inside edge (and yes the car is in spec for alignment). I am thinking of upgrading to the Concept Nuvo in 18" (with 20mm spacers) from Hartmann from the factory twin-spokes.

A diff of '1' isn't much, so I think that's why they show them for the ar. The OEM tires were ...
... all 97H as far as I know. Maybe when it stops raining, I'll go out to my car and see what the manual says.
