Tire pressure sencers? Will they work on aftermarket wheels? (long)
any one even tried? I should have asked? I do know that on my other car the GM type will not work on my CCW wheels. What wheels do I have comming? I was getting RS4s but that was going to take forever. After talking to Ronal I'm ending up with 18X9 LZs. Still not sure about the look. There may be a Bargan set up for sale. Size, price, and time were in there favor.

Like you said, it depends entirely on the sensor (3 main types currently in OEM use) and the wheel..
Ask your wheel vendor if your OEM system is compatible with your new wheels.

Re: Tire pressure sencers? Will they work on aftermarket wheels? (long)
My service manager says that the sensors that came with the allroad CAN be moved to aftermarket wheels.
He claims that he knows of no reason they will not continue to function. He claims that they have a transmitter and that it is battery operated and that the transmitter is "strong" enough to transmit through "virtually" any wheel -- unless the wheel has some deliberate RF shielding.
Audi will sell you 4 extra sensors if you are planning on using 18" wheels for 8 months and the factory wheels and tires for "winter." The price at list, however, is $90 -- now if you were planning on keeping the aftermarket wheels on full time, I guess you could just move the transmitter from the factory wheel and avoid the $90 per wheel cost.
My assumption is that $90 per wheel is almost robbery, but whaddya gonna do?

I know on the GM wheel it had to do with the way the valve stem hole was mach.
and looking a the stock wheels they look different. I had just recived a Tire Rack flyer that listed sencors but no price. I'll post in a few days when I mount up the wheels.
