Default Tire Report(long)

This is my second leased allroad('04 Tip). Both had the Pirelli's as OEM. The lease will be up in several months but the tires would probably not last till then.

I replaced with Kumho Ecsta ASX(high prf all-season). The main reason I chose them was price(I wasn't going to own them for long)and noise level per Tirerack surveys. However, I'm very satisfied. They are extremely quiet(I can hear the engine at 80 MPH). The handling and rain traction are good and snow traction is acceptable. There was no problem with balancing them. The car is truly transformed - it handles and rides very well and is QUIET.

The most amazing thing is that since the car was new, at speeds below 25 MPH, it felt like the left front spindle had a "burr" that could be felt through the steering wheel on each rotation of the wheels. Everything felt smooth at higher speeds so I never bothered to complain. Lo and behold it disappeared with the Kumho's.

The car is so much smoother and quieter I just can't believe the difference and just how crappy the Pirelli's were. So, if you want less noise give these tires serious consideration.

Total mileage - 22,000 - 3,000 on the Kumho's(ya gotta love the name).

Default Good timing

Thanks, ittazvic. I logged on today to get a little feedback from previous threads about tires. My Michelins are down to the bone and need replacing. Have been looking at Falken but I will definitely give the Kuhmo's some consideration.

Anyone else have any insight for good all season tires? Living in sunny San Diego so, aside from the occasional snowboard trip, my AR rarely sees snow or much rain (But in SoCal, when it rains, it pours).

Default Thanks for the report...I was narrowed down to the Kuhmo's and the Falkens...

went with the Falkens and although they've only been on a week, they have changed the way my car drives. So far I love them...vibrations and noise I had with my Nokians are gone.

Good to know the Kuhmo's are another choice.

Default Ditto on the Falkens... just put on ZE-512s...

...and it truly has changed the feel of the car. So much smoother and composed. Handles great in the rain too; haven't tried snow yet.

Default 3rd on the Falkens...keep the pressures up...

Falken Ziexs replaced the POS Pirellis on our allroad. Big improvement in all categories. Real good all-season tire. Make sure to keep the pressures up and rotate them.

I hear the Kuhmos are also real good. At the A6-S6 forum they also like the ContiExtremes a lot (ContiSports suck, OEM's on my Bimmer).

Default I currently have them at 41 all around...

Saw some posts a few weeks back calling for 45 all around. What are you running?

Default Other choices are Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus and Yokohama AVID H4S

They might wear longer than the Kumhos.

Default allroad with Falkens was traded...was running 39/43.

BUT, I was negligent and let the wife drive too long at too low pressure, resulted in edge wear on the fronts. allroads (all Audis?) eat tires. 39/43 is factory spec, need to rotate often.
