Default Trade: A6 4.2 for an Allroad

I am interested in trading my 2000 A6 4.2 Sport Package, Nav. Package, 60K miles, Melange color for an Allroad. Are there any takers out there that might be interested. I need a truck for work and my wife loves the audi but needs the wagon. Please e-mail me if you wish or post here. Don't want to spend any money at this time so a straight trade would be great. Give me your thoughts as I know we all love the 4.2 but it is impraticle with two kids and a dog and living on 5 acres. Thanks for your help.

Default EDITED: "a straight trade would be great..."

... for you.

I think that the only way you could get a straight trade (no cash) for an A6 4.2 with 60,000 miles on it would be to take it in trade for an '01 2.7 with higher miles and absolutely no options (assuming your 4.2 is in pristine shape). At that point, I might be a little worried about the condition of the allroad that you'd be getting in trade.

(shrug) Not meaning to harsh on your offer, it just doesn't seem too fair of a trade, considering the content on both cars, and their relative values.

Before I wanted the allroad, I was seriously pursuing a A6 4.2 (coincidentally, with 40,000 miles on it). I drove a car at a local dealership and thought the car a bit nose heavy, a little sloppy/loose, and a little down on the performance (oh, I SO wanted to love that 4.2). Perhaps it was the particular car...

Anyway... the dealer had an allroad with 35,000 miles on it parked right next to the A6. I traded the keys from the sedan for the wagon, and took it out for a spin immediately.

Back to back, I liked the allroad SO much better than the sedan, that I gave up my looking for an A6 and focussed exclusively on the allroad. And this is coming from a single guy with no immediate percieved need for a wagon!

Anyway, you need a wagon. What's up - no deals with the local Audi dealership? Can they find you a nice A6 avant to get into as an intermediate step?

Default straight trade allroads

Hey, Newbie...

I did a quick search on cars.com... there's several allroads that look like a good straight trade that are close by:

<a href="http://www.cars.com/search/used/cc/standard/results/multiple/fs_search_results.jhtml;jsessionid=XTLL54KXN1OANLA ZGJKJPQY?aff=national&certifiedOnly=">try this link</a>

The Autobarn dealer at Mount Prospect VW might do a good deal with you on a black with 54,000 miles on it, as well as the one at Countryside with 47,000 miles...

Who knows, it's defintely worth asking what they would do for you when you know exactly what you want the deal to be...

Good luck - we'd love to welcome you to the fold!

Default Generally in NJ with Audi Loyalty

You can get about $4000 off of the sticker. If you want to try and work a deal and then pick-up the car and drive it back, I'll hook you up with my sales guy.

He'll put it together for you!
