Default Tyres Continental or Pirelli.

My 2 rear tires are worn out.
Now my dealer explains me that I have to renew my 4 tyres because otherwise I will have problem with my ABS...ESP... and the quattro systhem.
Is he right?
thanks

Default Here's a tech correspondance from Road and Track, answering this question...

Incidentally, April, a very knowledgable member of the A6 forum suggests that as little as a 3% difference in front/rear tire diameter can be damaging to the torsen diff.

In the link below, search for "Four-for-One Deal"<ul><li><a href="http://216.239.53.100/search?q=cache:qoaQPFcVZHoC:dev.roadandtrack.com/technical/ArticleDisplay.asp%3FArticleID%3D245%26page%3D3+ro adandtrack,+tires,+AWD&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8">R&amp;T Tire Tech</a></li></ul>

Default Forget about Continental or Pirelli. Go with Mich. Pilot Sport A/S

The bite is awsome! It has been raining in NYC for 2 days now. The Pilot's performance in wet roads is unmatched. Worth the money. Cost me 205 each at costco.

Default Replacement. . .

For a bunch of reasons, it is very difficult to get a reputable tire dealer to replace only two tires (and never one) on a quattro.

The reasons are real, despite the temptation to believe that it is just a way to sell tires.

I would check with the dealer, but I think if you replace less than all four tires and the AWD goes south on you -- it isn't covered under warranty. Let's see. . .two tires, probably $500 -- new quattro system, a bit more, don't you think?

Also consider Plus Zero sizing of your new tires.

The allroad, for example, comes with 225 x 55 x 17"s and are plus zero'd with 245 x 50 x 17"s and if they are Pilot A/S the results are excellent -- and if you add the 402 mod (say -12mm on level one) the handling is "transformed."
