Default Update on Toyo T1R's. <singing> "You've lost that lovin' feelin', oh-woh-oh, that lovin'...

Not singing that any more, finally! How Toyo's got their groove back:

Finally, after 1,500 miles of normal driving on new T1R's, my baby is back sticking to the road better than before. Drove the ar mostly normal for the 1,500 miles and now the Toyo's are rock solid. No more back-end swing around action or understeer. Holds tight now on all turns at all speeds (well, under 60mph :-)). Good wet weather testing with the tropical storm here last week. Handled great.

Just wanted to share my experience. If you get these tires, give yourself a good 1,500 miles of breaking in before you feel confident pushing around twisties.

Default Nice update, i'm still looking for a summer tire. I thought you meant

that they were noisy at first by your singing comment LOL

Default I've got 2000 miles on them on my S4 and find them to be a little squeal-happy...

...which is naturally annoying. I preferred the GS-D3's which rolled over less, stayed quieter and when they did complain, complained in not as high of a pitch. Of course those were both in 235/40-18 sizes for my S4.

Default Cool, I am leaning towards the GS-D3's how do they seem to be wearing? Any

idea on how many miles you may get out of a set?

Default You can have my GSD3s for free. 8K miles wore off 5/32 off my GSD3s leaving 3/32 usable tread

so I bought Yokohama S.4s. Great UHP all season tires. OEM tires on A8s.

If you want them let me know in a week when I get back from vacation. You'd have to pick them up in northern IL as I will not ship.

Default Yikes, that is some serious wear. Can you tell me your driving habits, tire

pressure, etc...

I don't want to put out the $$ for them if they are only going to last me 10K miles.

Thanks for the feedback...

Default Losing 5/32nds of tread in 8k miles for a grippy tire like a GS-D3 should be expected...

...especially on a car as heavy as an allroad. I got 13k and 14k per set out of the 2 sets on my S4, which completely matched my expectations for mileage. I've been getting 10-15k miles per set of tires for most of my driving life, because I buy top tier grippy tires and take corners fast.

For a tire that's not quite as sticky that is primarily used by my wife on the allroad (like the SP5000), I expect 20k per set.

Default They are a bit noiser than my original Coopers I had on the car but very slight...

so, quiet enough. Highway speeds are fine as well. Talking on phone via OEM bluetooth at 75mph is no problem. They get loud when you push hard into turn. Not squeal but one can hear the rubber just gripping the road much harder.
