The Valeo wiper saga continues...
I received 5 Valeo wipers intended for the front windscreen of the '02 allroad. Two looked exactly like the OEM type. Three (2 22" & 1 21") were of the hooked-end type, such as Trico and others sell.
I returned the hooked-end type blades and kept the OEM-type blades. Didn't install the OEM-type as they looked exactly the same as what the dealer supplied; even sone of the numbers on the blade were the same. So since I'm looking for a blade that will out-perform the OEM blades in ice/snow winter conditions; it didn't make sense to install another set of the same thing.
It seems if one wants winter blades then he'll have to install '01 arms and aftermarket winter blades.
What do you think?

Your conclusion is correct. Valeo and Audi consider the beam style blade "all season" and make no effort at a specific winter blade.
The new blades clog with snow just below the connection to the arm which is, naturally, right in your line of sight.
The irony is you have a vehicle that's great in snow but you have to stop every five minutes to clear the blades! Ain't progress great?
