What are the lines on the cargo side windows for? AM radio? Defroster?

I believe it is the defroster. When my windows are icy and I turn on the defroster - The ice is melting on the back window, the back sidewindows and the mirrors (If mirror adjustment knub is turned on)

Just picked up my 02 allroad and have not had ice yet but also wondered as they don't clear up fog which I have had. I am wondering if they're a radio antenna and the roof one is extra or just for show?
