What should I do with exhaust system?
Hi everyone,
What should I do with the exhaust system? My mother's allroad has ~275,000 miles on it and the exhaust system has a leak near one of the catalytic converters; the pipes are pretty rusted out. Also the exhaust smells bad so I presume that the cats are shot. Note that the previous owner welded in cheap universal cats at around 50,000 miles, so they are well past their prime.
What should I do with this car's exhaust system and what are the approximate costs? Any advice to offer?

Or you can manufacture something. You can leave the middle panel but put an x-pipe instead in order to have a proper V6 sound (not two pieces of 3 cylinders' sounds behind) . The rear mufflers should remain or exchanged. The catalysts are important and costy. Aftermarket catalysts are still worthy.
Sometimes you can find used parts due to "upgrades".

BTW, 275.000 miles are really nice, indeed! Mine has only 181k miles. Another example to showcase to those who say that Allroads are not durable or reliable enough.
