Default What is up with "dealer" badges on cars?

I've always lived in SoCal, so I haven't seen any dealers around here that do this... but what is up with dealers putting their logo on a car you're buying?

I would be SOOOO pissed to have a badge like that on my car. Admittedly I still have the dealers license plate frame on my car, but that's because I haven't decided what type of frame to put on.

If you have one... is there a "choice" to not get it installed?

Common practice in the Midwest...just have to tell them to leave it off when you make a deal.

I've always considered it at least a $1,000 deduction from the cost of the vehicle for advertising. I figure that if the dealer is going to advertise on the back of my vehicle, they are going to pay me for it, like they would an ad in the newspaper. If the dealer objects to this reasoning, off it goes.

Default There is a choice

You just tell them to remove it period. I live in Dallas and all the dealers (of any make) here do it. The one exception is Park Place Audi. After I bought my allroad and as I always do with any car I buy I told them not to put on any dealer badging. I was taken back when they told me "We don't do that to our Audi customers. It would only upset the average Audi owner." I though that was great.

Worse case you take a hair dryer to the badge and off it goes. I would never let it go that far....
