What's the 605 relay??
#2
It is the control relay to the power steering booster...(servotronic)
We have a two step system... lots of boost at parck and low speed. Some don't like the lack of feedback and feel this has. Pulling the 605 relay turns off the switching and the boost is equal at low speed and high speed. You effero and musscles will increase, but so will the feel for the ar.

it does only take 5 minutes, but I'll save you the scraped up arms
that seem to be a side product of pulling it.
it tightens up the steering. but it also levels out the amount of boost so that at all speeds you get the amount of boost you would at high speeds.
the result of this is that at 0-10mph, the steering is Very Heavy. not quite like having no power steering, but close. definately takes a firm grip on the wheel to move it. from 10-25mph the firmer steering seems much more manageable. from 25mph+ the car is transformed steering is much more accurate and control is better than it was before.
Ok so maybe I am not saving you the scrapes on your arms, it is one you have to see for yourself. try it, you might like it. I did.

Nappy, Did the dealer put the 605 relay back into the car when you picked it up?
Or did they leave it out? I had pulled it and left it in hte driver side door storage. You can tell whether it is in or not if turning at low speeds is really, really easy or not.
